All reasonable people want to be successful. It’s obvious. But the crux is what success means to them. Do you consider yourself a successful person? The answers of those who do not have enough wealth, well-paid position, or well-deserved honors will be “no” or “not yet”, or the like. You even can’t imagine how you are wrong. Why? Because you bear in mind an incorrect definition of success. It’s time to find the right attitude to this controversial issue.
Have you ever asked a question to yourself why you are here, in this class? The answers will vary greatly: gaining knowledge, getting new experience, preparing for a well-paid job or something like that. Again you are wrong. Or partly wrong, may be. You are here, because you want to be a successful person. And you ARE already, believe me. Do you want me to prove it?
Firstly, let’s look at the phenomenon called “success” from a different angle. All the definitions of this word are given from the position of immobility. Success is considered to be a goal, some kind of destination. And here the main fallacy lies. Success is a never-ending journey of any person.
Secondly, never compare your success with anyone else’s, because it’s unique and belongs only to you. And it has little common with big money and even less with luck. All you need to be successful is a great desire to keep on moving to one goal or another.
Thirdly, you can't compare success with hard work. Why can’t you say that? Hard work never makes you happy. And success does. It’s the work that helps you to understand the value of every minute of life. You are doing your homework, learning new words, posting your essays and discussing with someone. You are doing a great job. You are on your everlasting journey to triumph. It’s unquestionable.
Summarizing, I'd like to say that our life is like a wild river, floating between immovable banks. It’s up to you to decide whether to fight with the stormy waters and go ahead or to stay on the bank watching others’ fighting. But successful people never stay on shore. And you are successful, aren’t you?
